The American Wind Band is:
A community band that has members based in and around DuPage County, around 50 members strong.
A band that requires no funding from the community.
A band that has a 20-year reputation of presenting concerts indoors and outdoors.
Comprised of music directors, professional musicians, and adults that wish to play at a top performance level; therefore, our concerts are of a professional caliber.
A band that wishes to continue presenting 5 outstanding band concerts per year featuring soloists and ensembles. Our concerts are for all and include musical selections, classic band literature and pop selections.
A band that has awarded over $5000.00 in music scholarships to junior high and high school students for further study. One of our scholarship recipients has continued in music at Northwestern University and is a director of music. We have premiered several new music compositions in the last 10 years.
We are in need of:
A community that is interested in the performing arts.
A community that has a continuing outstanding music education program in their schools.
A rehearsal space on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm till 10:00 pm.
Some storage space for music equipment and library.
In return for meeting these needs we will perform our 5 concerts for your community at no charge. We would be happy to meet with village officials, park districts or philanthropic organizations that have our interest at heart. Other negotiations are possible.
